i9 Macbook Pro 2018

Apple has launched it's most powerful laptop till date, the i9 Macbook Pro 2018. It's more powerful than most other laptops and even many desktops on this planet. And yes, it costs a lot. {It costed $6699 (~461929.55 Rupee) for MKBHD}. But does it worth the money? Let's disclose:

Processor: 8th gen Intel Core i9 (6 Cores) with a highest clock speed of 2.9 GHz.
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon Pro 560X.
RAM: 32 GB DDR4.
Storage: 4 TB SSD.

So, the laptop is a beast on paper. Let's go through some details.

Display: The display of the new Macbook Pro is a special one. It's a true tone display with a ambient sensor to adjust the white balance of the display according to your surroundings.

Touch Bar: The touch bar is also a true tone one which adjusts the white balance according to your surroundings.

Keyboard: The keyboard is upgraded as well from it's previous generation. There is a butterfly mechanism to make it more quieter. Apple added a membrane under each keyboard key to improve dust entrance.

The T2 Chip: This chip includes Touch ID (So your laptop can be unlocked by your fingerprint), better encryption and always on Siri. But Siri needs a lots of improvement to become a PC assistant.

Processor and RAM: The upgrade is a welcome. It's really a great upgrade to i9 over previous year's i7 processor and DDR4 RAM over past year's DDR3 RAM.

Battery: Apple increased the size of the internal battery to maintain the claimed 10 hour battery life. Although the new DDR4 RAM is less power efficient but faster.

Storage: The 4 GB SSD is the fastest storage in any laptop with almost 3 GB of reading and writing speed.

So, the laptop is looking very impressive. But there is some problems too.

Heating Issue: Apple likes to be thin, sleek and quite. For that reason they does not kick of the fan speed. As a result heating occurs. The thermal design of the laptop can be improved a lot.

Throttling Issue: To reduce heating they rather throttle down the CPU speed than kick off the fan speed. And this is a big issue while you are paying that much money. In a test by MKBHD the iMac Pro did the same project in 6:53 minutes, the i7 Macbook Pro 2017 in 25:38 minutes and the i9 Macbook Pro 2018 in 21:21 minutes (15% faster that the i7 Macbook Pro 2017).

So, upgrading to the i9 Macbook Pro 2018 from the Macbook 2016 or 2017 doesn't worth much due to the throttling issue and a little improvement in performance. And Apple may be you should focus on making thicker Macbooks.
