Xiaomi backed Huami launched two smart watches in India which are looking very promising specially AMAZFIT Bip (another one is AMAZFIT Stratos) which costs only 5499 Rupee (launching price, may vary later). So, let's take a look.
Design and Material: The smart watch really looks good. It seems like the Apple Watch. The watch is made of plastic but, it doesn't look cheap. The straps are made of silicon which are very comfortable to wear. Besides, the watch weights only 31 gm. So, you can wear the watch comfortably for a long time.
Display: The 1.28 inch 2.5D Colour Touch Display with 176*176 resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 is pretty good. The indoor and outdoor readability is quiet good, no problems with that. But, there is no auto brightness which is acceptable looking at the price.
Sensors:
1. GPS and Glonass: For positional tracking.
2. Barometer: For elevation.
3. Geomagnetic Sensor: Its basically a compass.
4. PPG Heart Rate Sensor: To read your heart rate.
5. 3-Axis Accelerometer: For activities and sports.
Features:
This smart watch has lot less features than a high end smart watch. It's similar to Mi Band 3 and like that it connects with your Mi Fit app. But for the extra price it has a smart watch design, colour display, more sensors and a bigger battery. The smart watch is ran by Proprietary OS.
1. You can see your foot steps, heart rate, the distance you walked and the calories you burnt with the watch.
2. You can start a activity like outdoor running, treadmill, cycling etc along with a activity manager which includes some handy options like heart-rate alert (notifies you when your heart rate is too high).
3. You can check the weather, get alarmed (you can't set the alarm through the watch, you have to do it through the Mi Fit App) or set a timer with the watch. You will be also notified on new phone calls and messages. Although you can't reply to them through the watch.
4. You can change the look of your watch too.
5. There is IP68 rating. So, you can take the watch for swimming and ofcourse in rain as well.
Battery: The AMAZFIT Bip destroys the battery issue with smart watches. There is a 190 mAh in this smart watch which is claimed to last 45 days. But, with moderate notifications it is seemed to last at least 30 days which is very impressive. And it takes 2.5 hours to get fully charged.
Although, you will find smart watches from other not very known companies in that price. AMAZFIT Bip comes with a more beautiful design, an amazing battery life and IP68 rating; but, with less features. In spite of that its definitely a better choice.
