Honor 7S
Honor, the sub-brand of Huawei launched a low-end phone, 7S which costs $110 (~7586 Rupee). The Global variant is available in Pakistan, Egypt and South Africa now and may make it's debut in India as well. So let's go through the specifications first.
Display: 5.45 inch LCD display with a 720*1440 resolution (18:9) and ~295 ppi.
Chip-set: MediaTek MT6739.
RAM: 2 GB.
Storage: 16 GB and expandable up-to 256 GB via microSD card.
OS: EMUI 8.0 on top of Android 8.1 (Oreo).
Cameras: 13 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera for Global variant (both with LED flash) and 13 MP rear camera and 24 MP (f/2.0) front camera in China (both with LED flash).
Battery: 3020 mAh.
Price: ~7586 Rupee.
Time for some details.
Design: The design of the phone is good enough. The back is metal. Although the phone is made of plastic material. The phone feels a little thick in hand but provides a good grip which is good in overall.
Display: The display is not great. The resolution is low. But your basic needs will be fulfilled by it.
Performance: The performance of the phone is not good (Sorry Huawei). The processor is low-end. The RAM is low as well. As a result the phone becomes really sluggish. Even day to day tasks like loading a image intensive web-page takes a lot of time (as per MobileTechReview review) or loading Swiftkey Keyboard makes the lower part of the phone stay white for a second, the usual animations freeze and apps crash (as per Android Authority review). Even the EMUI 8.0 is a problem in 7S. It makes the phone more sluggish. The popular game PUBG is so much hard to run on this phone as well. I even saw there was frame drops while playing a YouTube video in MobileTechReview.
Cameras: Hopefully the cameras on the phone meets the expectations. The 13 MP shooter on the back does the job quite well as well as the 5 MP shooter on front.
Battery: Although the battery seems small, it's hard to kill the phone in one day. In Android Authority review, the phone was able to provide a screen on time of 8 hours which is very impressive.
Major Drawbacks: The phone lacks a speaker grill which I think is a major drawback. The sounds muffle badly due to this reason.
So, if I wrap all the things up, the phone is not good even when I look at the price. The battery may be excellent, the cameras may be good but you can't call a phone good when you are facing so many lags in a day. There are many good phones in this price point like the Redmi 5A, Motorola E Series. So, I'll not suggest this phone. But you can gift the phone to someone you don't like. (Ha ha!)
