Redmi 6

Xiaomi has brought dual rear cameras at a pocket friendly price with the Redmi 6. It's basically the Redmi 6A, but better than the 6A in some aspects. Let's go through the specifications first.

Display: 5.45 inch IPS LCD display with 720×1440 resolution (18:9).
Chip-set: Octa-core MediaTek® Helio© A22.
Variants: 32 GB ROM with 3 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM with 4 GB RAM.
microSD Card Support: Supports up-to 256 GB.
Cameras: 12 MP (f/2.2, 1.25 micro meter, PDAF) with 5 MP (f/2.2, 1.12 micro meter, Depth Sensor) rear cameras and 5 MP (f/2.2) front camera.
OS: MIUI 9.6 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo.
Battery: 3000 mAh.
Price: Starting from ₹7999.

Design: Design wise the phone got a new look. The phone is thinner and the sides are more curved now providing a better grip. The camera module has changed. The new module holds the  two lens in a black pile shaped cabin with a flash beside this. A line has gone through the middle of this set-up like the Redmi Y series which looks pretty good. There's the new 18:9 display as well. The speaker is on the back of the phone now, moving there from bottom. So, muffling will be there when you'll place your phone on a flat surface facing it upwards.

Display: The colours are accurate and the display got bigger as well. So, more intuitive experience on the go. You will be satisfied for your bucks.

Performance: The MediaTek® Helio© A22 processor is quiet powerful and energy efficient. Along with PowerVR GE8320 GPU, 4 GB of RAM and MIUI optimizations the phone becomes really very good in performance. You will have no problems with daily uses like surfing the web, watching YouTube videos and doing stuffs on social media. Even the gaming performance is decent. The phone handled the game PUBG pretty well in a review by YOGATECH in balanced settings.

Camera: The phone captures pretty good photos with the back cameras as well as front camera in day light. But in low light the camera struggles a bit. There is a AI portrait mode for the rear camera as well as for the front camera which is great at this price. You can choose between a circular or a parallel blur effect there. As there is AI, you will get the best shot with just tapping on the object and capturing it without controlling the manual settings of the phone.

Battery: 3000 mAh battery with power efficient MediaTek® Helio© A22 SoC and well optimized MIUI 9.6 will give you a battery life of one day on average and even 1.5 days occasionally.

Special Features:

1. There is triple slot in place of hybrid SIM slot in this phone. That means you can use 2 SIMs simultaneously along with a microSD card (I needed this the most). Besides the chip-set supports dual 4G standby.

2. There is Face Unlock feature which works well.

So, Redmi 6 is the phone for the people who wanted dual rear cameras with portrait mode on their phone but was out of budget. You can buy a Redmi 6 for yourself from flipkart.com from 10 September, 2018.
