Top 3 Innovations in Smartphone Industry, 2017

Every year the smartphone industry improving with lots of innovation. Probably this is the fastest improving industry area of this decade. Let's discuss about best 3 of them.

eSIM:

It's really a headache for international travellers for travelling with different physical SIMs while traveling in different countries. But eSIM can be a solution to this.
Although it's been invented in 2016 but introduced to consumers with the launch of Google & Apple's Pixel 2 & 2 Plus and iPhone X accordingly in 2017. The can not be removed. But the advantage is that you can switch your carrier with just few taps on your smartphone. Although this technology isn't available that much yet (It's only available for Pixel 2 & Pixel 2 Plus users only if they sign up for Google Fi), you can expect more phones with both Nano SIM and eSIM support in 2018.

Display with 18:9 Aspect Ratio:

Smartphones with 18.9 aspect ratio got a lot of popularity in 2017. Although the standard aspect ratio for big screen televisions, movie theatres etc. is 16:9, but smartphone users are enjoying 18:9 aspect ratio. This gives you a larger screen on your smartphone without compromising on it's dimensions.
The trend started with LG G6 this year followed by LG V20, Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8 Plus (literally 18.5:9), Samsung Galaxy Note 8, LG V30, OnePlus 5T and so on. Google also adopted this change on their new Pixel 2 & 2 Plus and Apple too in their iPhone X (19.5:9) which have more narrower bezels than the phones mentioned above.
This feature gives a bezel-less smartphone front look which makes it sleek and gorgeous to look at.

Display with 120 Hz Refresh Rate:

Theoretically Refresh Rate of a display means how fast it can update a picture. Generally the refresh rate for smartphone was 60 Hz. But this year Razor, the company which is popular for making gaming PCs introduced Razor Phone with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. This gives a smoother experience while using the phone. Specially in gaming & watching movies on your phone. Razor also developed a technology called Ultra Motion for these screens which synchronises with the GPU of the phone & changes the refresh rate with the uses, saving the battery life. This technology is also expected to become popular in 2018.
