Redmi 5 & 5 Plus Expectations

Xiaomi launched Redmi 5 & 5 Plus in China. It will be launching soon (probably around last week of December, 2017 or first week of January, 2018) in other markets including India. Let's go through the specifications first.

Display: The main attraction about these phones are their display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The display is expected to be really very good. The bezels are narrow which looks great. In fact this is going to be a trend for the smartphones of 2018.

Performance: For performance, Redmi 5's Snapdragon 450 processor is quiet well with handling games and quiet energy efficient also. Snapdragon Redmi 5 Plus's 625 processor is quiet reliable as well as it proved in the previous Redmi Note 4. Along with 2/3/4 GB of RAM the performance is expected to be fluid with respect to the price point.

Camera: The camera made some small improvements as per the review in MIUI Forum. Photos are more crisper and sharper. But there are still many rooms for improvement. Although you can't expect a great camera in this price point.

Battery: The battery is reduced in Redmi 5 & 5 Plus for making the phones more light & sleek. Even the display became larger consuming more battery. But it is still enough for a 1 day battery life. Although you will miss that extra mAh.

But all of the above specifications are not confirmed for India yet. Some rumours are there that Redmi 5 is cancelled for India & the Redmi 5 Plus is the predecessor of Redmi Note 4. You have to wait for these phones to launch in India. I'll be writing a review on these phones when they launch in India. Stay tuned!
